As the pharmaceutical retail industry continues to expand, enterprises are facing increasing pressure to improve logistics efficiency, enhance inventory visibility, and strengthen distribution responsiveness. The rapid growth of store networks, the rise of omnichannel retail models, and stricter product traceability requirements are driving pharmaceutical companies to accelerate supply chain modernization through intelligent warehouse automation.

To support the strategic development of a leading pharmaceutical retail enterprise in South China, China JSSL Company successfully designed and delivered an advanced smart pharmaceutical logistics center tailored to the operational needs of modern healthcare retail distribution.

The client has experienced rapid growth through continuous market expansion, retail network development, and the diversification of healthcare service channels. As business volume increased, traditional warehouse systems faced challenges such as rising order complexity, increasing SKU turnover, higher replenishment frequency, and growing labor costs.

To address these operational pressures, the client required a highly scalable logistics solution capable of improving operational efficiency while ensuring inventory accuracy, regulatory compliance, and long-term supply chain flexibility.

Drawing on extensive experience in intelligent warehouse engineering, China JSSL Company developed a fully integrated pharmaceutical logistics solution that combines advanced automation equipment with intelligent digital control systems.

The logistics center covers 33,000 square meters with a building height of 24 meters, offering storage capacity for 300,000 cartons and supporting annual throughput equivalent to RMB 5.7 billion in sales volume.

The facility is designed to process 160,000 order lines per day, supporting fast and accurate replenishment for more than 4,000 retail pharmacy outlets across the region.

The warehouse adopts a multi-level operational design optimized for pharmaceutical storage characteristics and order structure diversity.

The ground floor serves as the inbound receiving, outbound dispatching, returns processing, and special-item storage zone. Automated pallet handling systems enable efficient product receiving and rapid inventory allocation.

The pallet AS/RS section provides more than 10,000 automated pallet positions, enabling high-density storage for bulk pharmaceutical inventory while ensuring fast retrieval performance.

The second floor is dedicated to split-case picking and intelligent order consolidation. An advanced loop sorting system dynamically routes products based on destination and order priority, enabling highly efficient sorting with minimal manual intervention.

The third floor features an advanced goods-to-person picking system, where autonomous robots transport storage containers directly to ergonomic picking stations. This design significantly reduces walking time, improves operator productivity, and ensures consistent picking accuracy.

This area is especially suitable for high-frequency prescription fulfillment and small-item pharmaceutical order processing where speed and precision are essential.

The fourth floor utilizes China JSSL Company's intelligent carton shuttle storage solution for medium-turnover pharmaceutical inventory. The narrow-aisle robotic design maximizes storage density while maintaining rapid multi-bin access performance.

The upper levels support high-volume case-picking operations for fast-moving inventory, ensuring rapid replenishment capability for large-scale retail distribution.

A key innovation of this project is its hybrid automation architecture, which combines pallet-level automation and carton-level robotic handling to support multiple order fulfillment scenarios simultaneously.

This flexible design enables the logistics center to efficiently handle bulk replenishment, split-case picking, prescription distribution, promotional order peaks, and seasonal inventory fluctuations without requiring structural modification.

To further improve outbound efficiency, China JSSL Company implemented an intelligent consolidation model supported by 16 high-speed carton shuttle robots, achieving system-wide consolidation efficiency of 1,360 cartons per hour.

Each intelligent picking workstation can simultaneously support order fulfillment for up to 60 retail stores, with individual station productivity reaching 500 order lines per hour.

At the software level, the project integrates a deeply customized Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Warehouse Control System (WCS).

This intelligent software platform dynamically manages inventory allocation, task scheduling, workstation balancing, routing optimization, and real-time exception handling.

The system continuously optimizes warehouse performance based on live operational conditions, significantly improving resource utilization and operational responsiveness.

An advanced visual verification system ensures order accuracy reaches 99.99%, meeting strict pharmaceutical compliance requirements while minimizing fulfillment errors.

Since entering operation, the smart logistics center has delivered measurable improvements in operational efficiency.

Manual handling requirements have been significantly reduced, order processing speed has increased substantially, labor productivity has improved, and inventory visibility has been greatly enhanced.

The project has also strengthened distribution responsiveness across the regional retail network while reducing internal logistics costs and improving service reliability.

More importantly, the successful implementation establishes a scalable logistics foundation capable of supporting the client's future national expansion strategy.

Through this project, China JSSL Company once again demonstrates its leadership in pharmaceutical warehouse automation and intelligent healthcare supply chain integration, helping pharmaceutical enterprises build smarter, faster, and more resilient logistics infrastructure for long-term growth.
